Demo Scenes
Global Snow includes a demo scene in the Demo folder. Open SnowScene_Deferred and press Play to explore it.
Included Scene
- SnowScene_Deferred - a snowy terrain with conifers, a hut and a roofed structure, a rolling ball and a walking robot. The Global Snow component is on the camera.
Controls
Press T to switch the camera between following the ball, following the robot and a free camera.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| T | Switch camera: follow the ball, follow the robot, free camera |
| W A S D | Push the ball, walk with the robot or fly the free camera, depending on the camera mode |
| Spacebar | Robot mode: the robot jumps. Ball mode: the ball jumps. In ball and free camera modes it also stamps a footprint at the center of the screen (a scripting example of FootprintAt()). |
| Right mouse button + move | Orbit around the ball or the robot, or look around with the free camera |
| Mouse wheel | Zoom in and out while following the ball or the robot |
| Q / E | Free camera: move down / up |
| Left Shift | Free camera: fly faster |
| G | Turn Global Snow on and off |
| H | Clear the snow with the coverage mask, except a square area (a scripting example of MaskClear() and MaskFillArea()) |
When you are not controlling the robot, it walks in circles on its own.
Features Demonstrated
- Snow coverage with relief shading, and snow kept off the surfaces under the roofs.
- Deep Marks in the snow layer under the ball and the robot.
- Footprints from the robot with the Global Snow Interaction component.
- Collision Marks from the ball, which uses Global Snow Interaction with Plow Mode.
- Snowfall, snow dust and camera frost.
- Object exclusion with Global Snow Ignore Coverage, and a coverage mask.
Use the Weather sliders on the camera to try rain, puddles and frost in the same scene. Walk over the snow to see the Impact FX snow bursts.
Demo Snow Walker
To test footprints and marks in your own scene, use GameObject > 3D Object > Global Snow > Demo Snow Walker. It adds the demo robot at the center of the Scene View. It walks in circles with the Global Snow Interaction component. It uses the files of the Demo folder, so keep that folder while you use it.
Demo/URP Settings folder contains a URP asset and a Universal Renderer already set to Deferred with the Global Snow Render Feature. If the snow does not appear in the demo, check that your active URP asset uses a deferred renderer with the Global Snow Render Feature, or assign this one in Project Settings > Graphics.
Demo folder before building your game. Do not ship demo assets with your production build.
