Volumetric fog mist 2 height map
« on: November 05, 2021, 08:07:37 PM »
I know this is a volume fog but it also looks good for cloud like appearances, would you be able to add some kind of height map so that some of the clouds would go higher like the one in the image? But I do have a feeling when using a random height map it would probably make some of the clouds look way off and not match the noise map(the opposite of the noise map where the clouds donít disappear)

Iím using a URP 2019.3 currently

The sky in this video was created using two layers of Volumetric Fog & Mist with different noise settings (using the built-in pipeline version):

The URP version adds 3D noise option which can produce even more variety.

Those kind of cloud formations could require additional adjustments to the kind of noise employed as well as additional features like self-occlusion within the cloud formations (which would make it more expensive as well). Depending on the kind of skybox you want to get, using a couple of volumetric fog & mist layers can create a nice effect.

We could add the self-occlusion and nosie options as new features in next updates. No ETA yet, but thanks for the suggestion.
