Beautify: Post Processing Image Enhancement & Effect for Unity
In this article, we would like to introduce you to one of our flagship Unity Assets: Beautify. This full-screen post processing effect analyzes and improves image quality of your project in real time, resulting in crisp and vivid scenes.
When you import the package intro your project, you get a folder named Beautify, and inside of it you can find specific versions tailored to built-in and URP pipelines. Once you import the proper package you just have to select the main camera of your scene and in the inspector panel add the Beautify script.
Once added, you will instantly see that the image quality of the game view will change, which means the Beautify effect has successfully been applied to the scene and you can start changing its values to match your desired image effects.
The Asset includes many options related to Image Enhancements, Tone mapping & Color Grading, Lens & Lighting Effects and finally Artistic Choices, a perfect set of tools that you can combine to get an astonishing image result (and they render in the same pass for superior performance).
The image above shows how our project looks like before adding the Beautify script to our camera. You can notice the greyish tone and it definitely lacks image effects to give importance to all details. Now, take a look at how this scene changes after adding the Beautify script and changing some settings to match the desired look:
Much better! You can see the proper color grading, sharpness effect and light flares and how every single element on the scene now pops. And these three effects are just few of the options that this tool provides.
When it comes to game development all steps to the final result are important, but definitely the post processing stage makes the difference between a boring scene and an engaging one.
